About Me
Okay, I will be honest: When I enrolled at the Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSUD) as an English major, my concentration was poetry. Yes, poetry. I know what you’re thinking–how does anyone go from poetry to technical writing and editing? Well, the truth is, I was a lousy poet.
Frustrated, I took an introduction to business writing class—and, bingo! I realized that my future writing career was not limited to lackluster haikus or dreary couplets.
After completing my bachelor of arts in English, I transferred to MSUD’s Department of Technical Communication where I earned a bachelor of science–and rewrote an entire industrial meat slicer manual to make meat slicing safer for workers who speak English as a second language.
Four years later, I graduated from the University of Denver with a master of applied science in information and communications technologies. This program explored the complex relationship between print and web-based content, information technology, and business management, along with tradition language and usability research. My master’s thesis analyzed the growing impact of social networking on small businesses.

When not writing and editing, I enjoy exploring Chicago with my husband and visiting loved ones throughout Illinois.
