There are several ways to add cover pages to PDFs in Adobe Acrobat. Today’s tutorial shows how to automatically create cover pages based on your PDF’s existing content and style.
We will also look at how to edit the cover text and remove a cover page you have already added.

These steps currently apply to the English-language, subscription versions of Adobe Acrobat Pro and Standard for desktop (PC and Mac). These steps don’t apply to the web or mobile versions of Acrobat or to Adobe’s free PDF display software, Acrobat Reader.
Acrobat’s cover page tool is AI-powered, so credit limits may apply.
How to Create a Cover Page
- Ensure you are signed into your Adobe account.
- Open the PDF in Adobe Acrobat.
- Select Edit in the global toolbar.
- Select Generate cover page in the Edit panel.
Acrobat will generate a variety of cover designs based on your PDF’s content and style.
- Select the design you want to use.
- Select Add cover to insert the cover page.
The new cover page should appear as the first page of your PDF.
How to Edit the Cover Page Text
- Select Edit in the global bar.
- Select the text in the text box that you want to change.
- Type your replacement text.
- Select specific text and then use the formatting options in the Edit panel to adjust the font, size, color, emphasis, and spacing.
Use the handles (circles) to adjust the size of the text box if necessary.
- Select Menu (PC) or File (Mac) and then Save to save your changes.
Advanced Customization with Acrobat Express
Select Do More with Adobe Express for advanced customization options. Note that when you open Adobe Express, a copy of your PDF will be saved in Adobe Cloud Storage.
Adobe Express’s premium features are not included in all Acrobat subscriptions.
How to Remove a Cover Page
- Select All tools in the global bar.
- Select Organize pages from the tools list.
- Select the cover page’s thumbnail.
- Select the Delete (trash can) icon in the shortcut menu or in the Organize pages panel.
- Select OK to confirm the deletion.
The cover page should be removed from your PDF.
- Select the X to close the Organize pages panel.
- Select Menu (PC) or File (Mac) and then Save to save your changes.
